Poem for Miami Champs

Posted by CJayMiami, 22 June 2012 · 3,027 views

Night Sweats

Some like it hot,
some hate the Heat.
Rhythm defies defeat,
The multi-urban beat,
Mighty Miami.

Focused youth,
seeking truth in a dream,
a team,
of unlikely heroes.

Citywide pride,
amid palm trees.
Diversities and imagined glamour,
Media clamor of clowns,
whoever can’t swim will drown,
In Miami.

More than sneakers.
blinding faith fills bleachers,
in Wade County.

Officials yell foul,
Elusive towel never thrown,
as the throne awaits,
the statue.
The triumph of rings,
calle ocho sings,
in harmony.

Spainglish meets urban legend in a borderless south.
Oh mono lingual booing mouth,
soon silent.
Non- violent redemption served,
deserved,
in a basket.

Title.
Miami.
2012.
