The Miami HEAT won their second consecutive overtime game, 119-109 over the Dallas Mavericks. The HEAT trailed late, but found a way to rally before pulling away in overtime. The HEAT host the Chicago Bulls Friday night.

Impact Performance of the Night: LeBron James stole the show tonight with 32 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists. Eight of LeBron’s 11 made field goals came in the restricted area. He used an array of spin moves over the course of the night, finding his way into the narrowest of spaces. James also put on a how passing the ball, finding HEAT shooters all along the perimeter.

The Deciding Run: The Miami HEAT opened the overtime session on a quick 7-0 run. From that point on, they never looked back. Ray Allen kicked things off with a corner three, and LeBron James and Dwyane Wade quickly piled on with two-pointers and the overtime rout was on.

Play of the Game: There were big plays throughout the fourth quarter and overtime, but Dwyane Wade’s steals were a notch above. The first came late in the fourth quarter, with the HEAT trailing 101-98. He was able to read Dirk Nowitzki’s move, strip the ball and leave it for Ray Allen to finish a layup. In overtime, Wade poked free another Mavericks pass then streaked for the dunk, pushing the HEAT lead to seven.

Efficiency Rating: Offensive Rating: 112.6; Defensive Rating: 100.2

Trend to Watch: The HEAT feasted on corner threes tonight. After starting 1-for-5 in the first half, the HEAT shot 5-for-8 in the second half from the corners. All season long, the corner three has been a staple of the HEAT offense. Tonight, commitment to it went a long way to securing a victory. Shane Battier and Ray Allen each hit monster shots from the corners, a place they’ve dominated all year. No shot location correlates more with good offense than corner threes. It’s not a surprise the HEAT, who shoot more corner threes than any other team, have the second best offense in the NBA.

The Takeaway: The Mavericks have struggled of late, but they still presented a good test for the HEAT. Dallas hit contested jumpers on the HEAT all game long, but the HEAT stuck to their defensive principles and eventually won out. This game was very much a win for the “process over results” camp, which just may be headed by HEAT coach Erik Spoelstra.

Notes: Dwyane Wade finished with 27 points and 10 rebounds. Chris Bosh added 17 points. Shane Battier and Ray Allen combined for 21 points off the bench. Dexter Pittman and Terrel Harris were inactive.

He played all but roughly a minute and thirty seconds in OT...
"Doctors and scientists agreed that breaking the four-minute mile was impossible, that one would die in the attempt. Thus, when I got up from the track after collapsing at the finish line, I figured I was dead."

-Roger Bannister, after becoming the first person to break the four-minute mile.

miami played great in the 4th and in overtime. Wade and james just clicked let's hope that happens all year. Ray Allen and Shane Battier each made a great contribution off the bench. CORNER THREES!!!! I was a little worried in the first quarter when they were trailing 30-18 but they kept playing and came out with a win. Here's to a win over Chicago on Friday Night.
