The Miami HEAT won their first game in Brooklyn, blowing out the Nets 105-85. The HEAT swept the season series, 3-0. The HEAT continue their road trip Friday night in Indiana.
Impact Performance of the Night: LeBron James led the HEAT with 24 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. In the third quarter, when the HEAT pulled away, James scored 10 points of 4-for-5 shooting. He drained two threes and finished a beautiful fastbreak alley oop for good measure.
The Deciding Run: It really was the entire third quarter. The HEAT outscored the Nets 36-14 in the period. The HEAT forced eight turnovers and shot a blistering 65 percent from the field. The game never got close in the fourth quarter.
Play of the Game: Tonight’s top honors go to the perfect fastbreak run by Mario Chalmers, Dwyane Wade and LeBron James in the middle of the third quarter.. Chalmers came up with the ball in the backcourt, waited until the last second to pass it to Wade, who then executed the textbook touch pass to James who hammered it home. Honorable mention goes to Chris Andersen who drove the ball the length of the floor for an and-1.
Efficiency Rating: Offensive Efficiency: 115.2; Defensive Efficiency: 96.0
Trend to Watch: The HEAT have been crashing the offensive glass recently. Six of the HEAT’s 14 double-digit offensive rebounding games have come in December. Tonight, the HEAT were able to capitalize for 19 second chance points. The HEAT have gotten many of the offensive boards by still only sending one player to crash the glass. But that player, whether it has been Chris Bosh, Shane Battier or Udonis Haslem, has done a great job out outworking the opponent. The HEAT don’t stress offensive rebounds like other teams, so any that they grab are nice bonuses.
The Takeaway: The HEAT complete the 3-0 season sweep of the Nets, with all three games being blowouts. Regular season games don’t have any predictive value when it comes to the postseason, but the Nets appear to be a favorable matchup for the HEAT. The HEAT used it’s speed to neutralize the Nets size advantage. Tonight’s victory was a nice bounce back after Sunday’s loss and sent a message to an Eastern Conference contender.
Notes: Dwyane Wade finished with 21 points. Chris Bosh added 16 points and five rebounds. Dexter Pittman and Jarvis Varnado were inactive for the HEAT.

The play of the game was when Rio recovered his own missed shot...on the floor and passed it to Wade from the floor, who then made a nice jump shot.
We swept the Nets. Nothing new gentlemen.
