Kaman said he's open to re-signing with the Hornets next season. "Yes sir, certainly," he said. New Orleans Times-Picayune

Oh.... He may remain Hornets and No buyout occurs.

Camby won't be bought out. The Rockets coach has always been big on him, plus, they need him for the play offs. They are in contention and need him as a back up big.

Kaman = lol no, Stern would never do that. Plus, NO has his bird rights, so he can get paid big $$$.

JO might be the only guy we can get but I'll take him

Not even, Ainge said that if JO's intentions are to go back to Miami, then he won't be bought out.

it looking ugly unless rasheed come back like he was with the celtics! but from now on im hopping we dont match up with orlando or Lakers on a series because the size will destroy us! and Pat let Mcgee go away when denver got him without getting the guy they where trying to give away Blather or something like that! Let hope Pat been giving Alonzo moruning some Streroid so he could return from retirement!

honestly every team is holding onto these centers for dear life, its really pathetic actually. You think New Orleans will go anywhere w/ kaman? You think eric gordon will stay? You think the celtics can win a series this year w/ JO? they are just keeping these guys so we cant get any better. Really disgusting to me. But what can we do? Pat riley is out of tricks. We signed joel anthiny to a 4 mil dollar deal and he is straight up ****. We're done.

Lol.

Chris Tomasson ‏ @christomasson

Another big man candidate has emerged for Heat in 6-10, 250-pound Ronny Turiaf,, who'll be waived by Denver to make room for Wilson Chandler

Chris Tomasson ‏ @christomasson

Ronny Turiaf has played in just 4 games this year. He had broken hand but was cleared to return Tuesday. Might be best big man Heat can get.

Chris Tomasson ‏ @christomasson

Ronny Turiaf has seven-year averages of 5.2 points and 3.8 rebounds. He has NBA Finals experience with the Lakers in 2008.

Ronny Turiaf might be a great fit here. He is very close to what we need and could be our last hope for a legit center this season. He's a vet with experience and can easy give us 5/6 & 2 blks in just over 20 minutes. IMO he is the most realistic option right now. That rumor seriously made my day despite us being so desperate. Either him, JO or Sheed would be welcomed here with open arms. Hell I'd even take Gadzuric, Fesenko or Elson right now. Even Dampier or Big Z outta retirement! Even Shaq! Even Wilt's corpse outta the grave! You get the point!

:D

Chris Kaman and Marcus Camby isn't getting bought out, so lets just forget them.

Rasheed Wallace and Jermaine O'Neal could fill a need of they are fit and ready to play, but are they?

A guy Dan Gadzuric isn't exactly a superstar, but he got some length, size and experience, and you don't need to be a that good to be better then what we have now at C, aside from Joel.

Greg Oden is whole other discussion because he won't be able to help us right now, he would be a project.

Derek Fisher or Anthony Carter would fill in good as a solid third string PG and give us some as us experience and composure at the position. Something that could be valuable to have behind our young, and some times erratic, combo of Rio and Cole. Especially if one gets injured . Don't think Fisher would mind joining HEAT after LA dumped him.

Ronny Turiaf is probably the best big of those available. He doesn't have the height everybody is going on about, but I think we are better of actually getting someone who can play then staring us blind at 7 foot. At 6-10, 250 he still got good size. He is also athletic enough to do the stuff defensively HEAT wants from their bigs, and overall probably the one most fitted for way the HEATs play.

If we end up with something like Fisher and Turiaf I would be happy, and if it ends up being Gadzuric and Carter Im very still ok with it.

Because you wont find starters in the "90% off buyout bin". There are reasons these players aren't on teams rosters. No reason to get our hope up about getting someone that start, or overvalue a player just because we have a need, aka the "Troy Murphy effect".

Turiaf wouldn't be a bad pickup if he is bought out. But hes nowhere near 6'10....more like 6'9 in shoes. Maybe he can do a bit better holding his own in the post than Haslem but other than that doesn't provide much that UD cannot.

I'd add Turiaf. I mean, out of the whole list he may be the only one getting bought out. He's fast and can defend. Just add him.

He is listed as 6-10, but I get your point, you never now with the NBA profile measurements. Still, I rather have a player that is good enough to be on the floor, then 7'0 sitting in a suit. I don't really see that much 7'0 or even 6'11 available that would actually suit up.

And I agree that he in would probably be a lot like UD, but I wouldn't mind having another Haslem at our disposal. Especially with added length, bulk and shot blocking. Turiaf is a great shot blocker.

Stat wise he is also what we would want from a back up big; 5ppg, 4rpg, 1,5bpg 53FG% in less then 20 mins.

So how many injury prone players do we have now if we sign Turiaf <_<

A broken hand is a freak injury.

It's funny how last month I stated Ronny Turiaf as someone Miami should look at and eveybody was up in arms about the idea and not just because of the fact that some believe he is 6'9" or whatever and now I look and everybody is embracing the idea of getting him. There are reasons why I suggested Turiaf as an option and I will list those reasons again.

First off just like B.G. has stated he is listed as 6'10" and until I see something that states different I will not change my tune on it. Second, he is very athletic and weighs about 245 lbs which is about 10-20 lbs heavier than Joel Anthony and 5 lbs heavier than Tyson Chandler. The last time I checked nobody was throwing Tyson Chandler around. Third, he is a very good defensive player and his stats are pretty much what we would be looking for in a center.

So again I say that Ronny Turiaf is a really good pickup plus it doesn't hurt that he had playoff experience with the Lake Show.

I do believe that Miami should go after Turiaf and also sign Rasheed Wallace

Hi  everyone!  Once again, I'd like to apologize in advance if this has been spoken about already in this thread.  I always make sure to let everyone know that i'm not always here, and show up every once in a while.  Things should start heating up, so I'll definitely be reading a lot more.  This is obviously the best place to find the most intelligent Heat fans that know basketball.

      Let's get right into it...
I was actually hopeful this offseason about our ability to pry BOTH Gordon Hayword and maybe Paul Millsap as free agents...But with the money that these guys are going to have to pass up to come here, i'm more and more pessimistic about being able to sign ANY major player.  Which leads me to TANKING!!!!!!!
We must land in the top 5 in the lottery...it's literally a must.  Why? Well obviously for the talent and 2, because home grown talent is going to be the way to go for the rest of the NBA landscape.  If Lonzo Ball becomes who i think he will become, we will never be able to sign him as a FA because of all the money he'd be giving up.  Which now leads me to the trades we must do!!!!

Here is a super realistic 3 part 3 team tank/trade scenario which involves Dragic and Whiteside that the Heat MUST do.  I'm one of the biggest Whiteside supporters btw...but the front of the Jersey and it's future matters most to me...so here we go...keep up lol:
Part 1: I WANT THAT BROOKLYN PICK!!!! Being able to land two top 5 picks in this draft will be epic!!!!
      - Boston is actively looking for a Center (Vucevic)...their leading rebounder is Avery Bradley for God's sake at 6.9rpg...getting a guy like Hassan Whiteside will make Boston an instant championship/ECF contender and one of the best defensive lineups in basketball:
      Thomas
      Bradley
      Crowder
      Horford
Whiteside ... I believe this squad can actually bother the Cavs a bit and will be the best threat in the east to them which Pat Riley would probably like anyways...so here's how the trade looks:

Miami trades Hassan Whiteside to a contender Boston
Boston trades Amir Johnson $12MM expiring contract, Tyler Zeller $8MM non guaranteed next year, and Brooklyn's #1 pick...
Why does Boston do this, the best players in the draft are all PGs and Isaiah Thomas who is already severely underpaid isn't going anywhere on the verge of a scoring title.  If Hassan Whiteside was in the draft then Boston would never trade this pick.  Hassan Whiteside solidifies that team and because we are rebuilding and are no where close to competing for the east, let's focus on homegrown talent in the most talented Draft pool i can remember.  So we land a top 5 pick and free up an additional 23MM next year.

Part 2: WE NEED A CENTER!!!!! If there's a sliver of Truth to the rumor that Orlando wants to give us Vucevic and a future 1st for Dragic...ONLY in this 3 team trade we must do this immediately!
Dragic is Dragic...he's not going to win us anything and his value couldn't be any higher than it is right now.  Since we lost Whiteside and his 23MM per, we can pick up a highly skilled stretch big with good foot work for the low post who is 1 year removed from doing Bosh #s and only 26 years old.  Best part about it is he's only making 12MM per over the next 3 years.  That add's an additional 5MM per year + in savings by trading Dragic...annnd a future 1st with Orlando "supposedly" offered to us.
Miami Trades Goran Dragic to Orlando
Orlando trades Nikola Vucevic and a future 1st to Miami

Part 3: The 3 team trade is essentially done, we've cleared an additional $28MM in salary, and picked up 2 1st rounders including a top 5 pick this year...what's left to do??? Tank...and Tank hard!!!!!!!!! That would allow us to get an additional top 5 pick.  Imagine being able to pair up.....

      Ball 6'6" and Fultz 6'4"
      Ball 6'6" and Monk 6'3"
      Ball 6'6" and Ntikilia 6'5"
Ball 6'6" and Tatum 6'8"....(Please no more Josh Jackson talk...I already have a defensive specialist and offensive pessimist lol Justise Winslow and his shooting issues to get over...been there done that)

With all that...Miami would add an additional $28MM to their 2017 Cap space that already will include $51MM available when Bosh is off the books...That's roughly $80MM available to spend.  Now as i mentioned before, i'm not too confident that we'll be able to steal a Free agent, but just think we have the ability to sign 2 max $30MM players (ie for sh^t's and giggles Blake Griffen and Gordon Hayward) and still have $20MM left to spend on a 3rd guy (Jrue Holiday, Jeff Teague, George Hill type that Ball can learn from) or 2 really decent role back up pg players.
Best case scenario (does not include any Steph Curry / Durant / Chris Paul talk cuz i think it's bs and a waste of time):
PG Jrue Holiday / Lonzo Ball / Tyler Johnson
SG Markell Fultz or Malik Monk / Wayne Ellington / Josh Richardson
SF Gordon Hayword(option1) or Danilo Gallinari(option2) / James Johnson / Justise Winslow
PF Blake Griffen(option1) or Paul Millsap(option2) /  Ersan Ilyasova / Josh McRoberts ugh!!! (UD to become a man da fk up consultant)
C   Nikoli Vucevic / Greg Monroe (cheeeeeaaaaap) / Showtime Willie Reed

      2nd scenario
PG  Lonzo Ball / Tyler Johnson / Darren Collison
SG Markell Fultz or Malik Monk / Dwayne Wade lol why not / Josh Richardson
SF Danilo Gallinari(option 1) Rudy Gay (option 2)/ James Johnson / Justise Winslow
PF Paul Millsap(option1) Serge Ibaka meh(option2) /  Ersan Ilyasova / Josh McRoberts ugh!!! (UD to become a man da fk up consultant)
C   Nikoli Vucevic / Showtime Willie Reed / Alex Len

Once again sorry for the long *** post!  Just making up for time lost.  I'd like to hear everyone's take on this.  Am I completely crazy and know nothing about basktetball, am I on to something?  Do you have an alternative best case realistic scenario for us?  I didn't include 2nd round draft picks i'd like us to go after like mighty mouse Marcus Keene and Alec Peters (look em up).
Will be back to read comments LATERS!

My buddy Will posted a video to FanZoos discussing this question: Who on Miami Heat's starting 5 is a defensive liability?

What do you guys think? Is he right? Did he leave out anybody, or include anyone he shouldn't have?

After playing OKC on Sunday, the Miami Heat will have played 41 games marking the mid-season mark. Grade your favorite players or least favorite players. What can the Miami Heat do to win more games in the second half and secure a High seed in the playoffs?

I figured this topic has been a long-time coming and needs to have its own page.

The overwhelming feeling I get from most Heat fans is that they want Spo to be replaced by someone, literally anyone else at head coach. So, I figured I would put up a poll to get an actual number to what percentage of heat fans want what.

I think that someone like Juwan Howard being promoted to head coach could be a good in season replacement at the head coach position. If you look at what he did outside of Spo's shadow in the summer league going undefeated in the Orlando circuit, I think he maybe a great candidate for internal promotion.

However, there is also options elsewhere and this should be carefully considered as well.

      What are your thoughts?
    • By Wade County305
Does anyone else think that the Heat will make a trade at the deadline this year?

I know it is kind of early to talk about this kind of thing, but last year they made the big move for Dragic. Does anyone see them doing something big this year?

I don't see them trading for a big time player like Dragic, but I could see them making a deadline deal for a critical role player that would fill a need and give us that little extra push that we need for the playoffs.

      What are your thoughts?
