The Miami HEAT defeated the San Antonio Spurs 121-96 Saturday night at AmericanAirlines Arena. After struggling offensively on Thursday, the HEAT exploded out of the gates, scoring 32 points in the first quarter. The Spurs were never able to recover from the early onslaught.
-Dwyane Wade was spectacular. Wade finished with 25 points on 10-of-14 shooting. He also added seven assists, four rebounds and three steals. With LeBron James out, Wade orchestrated the offense beautifully. He found open shooters all over the floor and attacked the rim viciously. It’s hard to find any flaws in the way he performed tonight. It’s extremely encouraging with the season rapidly approaching.
-Chris Bosh was also excellent once again. Bosh finished with 17 points in just 26 minutes of action. Bosh had his jumper working, but also had some nice finishes at the rim. He and Wade ran a perfect side pick-and-roll early on that there is no defense for. Bosh also had a monstrous dunk off a pass from Roger Mason, Jr.
-James Jones did his job, knocking down six three pointers to finish with 18 points. The Spurs played a lot of zone early on and Jones was able to make them pay with threes from the corner. Jones started in place of James, and stretched the floor perfectly for the starting unit.
-Mario Chalmers and Norris Cole each submitted good, efficiency games at the point. They combined for 19 points in the winning effort.
-Roger Mason, Jr. continues to fit in seamlessly. While he wasn’t able to connect from deep, Mason was able to work in the flow of the offense and facilitated a great deal.
